Get to know Dr. Anthony Locastro
Dr. Anthony J. Locastro is a distinguished ophthalmologist with a rich academic and professional background in the field of eye care. He has dedicated his career to the study and practice of oculoplastic, particularly focusing on plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal system, and orbit, as well as cosmetic surgery of the eyelid and brow.
Dr. Locastro’s journey in the medical field began with his completion of a Doctor of Medicine degree from Northeastern Ohio University of College of Medicine. His commitment to excellence was evident even during his undergraduate years, as he was a member of the prestigious honor societies including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Beta Sigma. He was also the recipient of the President’s Scholarship for Academic Achievement.
Following his medical education, Dr. Locastro underwent rigorous training and specialization. He completed his residency at Akron City Hospital, where he developed a strong foundation in ophthalmology. He further honed his expertise through fellowships, notably in plastic and reconstructive surgery. His fellowship experiences were at the University of Cincinnati, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Eye and Ear Institute, Pittsburgh.
Dr. Locastro’s contributions to the field are not only in his extensive education but also in his teaching and mentorship. He held an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He actively engaged in teaching residents and played a vital role in shaping the didactic curriculum for the Division of Oculoplastics and Pediatric Ophthalmology at Summa Health System. His dedication to education was recognized through multiple “Teacher of the Year” awards from the Department of Ophthalmology at Summa Health System.
